Nanhee Kim, MFA – Creative Director
Nanhee is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at CSU Chico in the Department of Media Arts, Design and Technology. Her area of expertise covers UX design, Web Design, Branding, and Environmental Graphic Design. She has worked with numerous business clients over her 20 year career. In 2004, she founded Kandesign, an experiential graphic design company based in Seoul, Korea. She has conducted extensive research in the field of Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Service Design, and environmental graphic design. Nanhee is passionate about golfing, bicycling, and traveling. She graduated with a BA in Visual Design from Seoul National University of Technology and an MFA in graphic design from Iowa State University.
Adam Morgan, MA – Video Producer/Director & Advisor
Adam is a Lecturer and Producer/Director at CSU, Chico, specializing in Video Production, Equipment Utilization and Project Development. With an understanding of these specializations, Adam works with clients to select and utilize the appropriate media for their projects. Adam has taught courses in Remote Video Production, Field Video Production, Script Writing, Introduction to Multimedia and Video Studio Production. His current interests include understanding the direction of today’s various technologies.
Tom is Professor in the Department of Media Arts, Design, and Technology at CSU, Chico. He specializes in E-Learning Design and Training Development Consulting. He teaches classes in the areas of E-Learning, Web Design, Web Animation, and Instructional Design/Training Development consulting. His current interests are in the area of E-Learning Development and Mobile Learning Delivery for clients in business, non-profits, and government agencies.
Carole brings a breadth of experience to MADTech and specializes in print media, publication and book design, advertising, posters and corporate identity, with a special love for typography. She has provided services for many corporate clients as well as the local cycling community and other non-profit groups. Serving for a number of years on the Paradise Design Review Board enhanced her view of environmental design. She also has an interest in fine art, illustration, painting and pottery.
Ziang Gu is an international student and a senior in the Graphic Design major. This is his second year at CSUC. His MADTech Group focus was on assembling the 3D printer for the group.
Paige Hough is a Senior at Chico State studying Graphic Design. She is originally from Mount Shasta, a small mountain town in Northern California, just shy of the Oregon border. Outside of school, Paige enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading new books, and photographing people and places. After graduation Paige is excited to move to a new town and pursue a career in Graphic Design and may go on to pursue a graduate degree in Communications.
Victor Hugo Merida is a Graphic Designer.
Jenny is a senior at Chico State majoring in the Graphic Design option within the MADT major. (graduation date December 2017). Jenny is originally from a small farm community an hour south of Chico called Sutter, home of the Sutter Buttes. Aside from graphic design, she enjoys listening to Spotify, checking out local eateries and businesses, exploring nearby nature sites, learning hand lettering, and going home to cuddle/annoy my parents’ cats.
Tyler is a MADT student with a focus on graphic design. His main focus when it comes to design is websites and photography, however he also good at poster and logo design. Most of his photography is nature-based, however, he also photographs people and cityscapes. His future goals are to develop websites and advertisements for people and then to eventually start his own graphic design firm.
Weifu (Shawn) Wen is a senior in graphic design major in CSU Chico with an interest in interactive design, visual design and corporate branding.
Caileigh Blake-Christo is a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Graphic Design. She transferred from El Camino College and has been at CSU Chico for 4 semesters. Having a background in food services, Caileigh works on campus with the catering department of Associated Students as well as interning at MADTech. Her interests include anything with adventure, crafts, and makeup. She hopes to graduate from CSU Chico by Spring 2018.
Valerie Gilzean transferred to Chico State in the Fall of 2015 after receiving her AA in Art New Media from American River College in Sacramento. She is now working towards a degree in Media Arts, Design, and Technology with a focus in Graphic Design. In her free time, she enjoys sailing on the San Francisco Bay with her father, photography, and hanging out with friends. She hopes to graduate from CSU Chico after the Spring 2018 semester.
Izzy Sagely is a four year Chico State student continuing her third semester as a Media Arts, Design and Technology major with a focus in Graphic Design. Izzy enjoys music, ice cream, and anything outdoors. Originally from Thousand Oaks, California she found an interest in pursuing her volleyball career here at Chico State. With some setbacks, she has now pursued a coaching career for the Chico High School girls freshman team and will continue to coach again in the fall of 2017 where she will be completing her last semester as a Chico State wildcat.
Holly is a Media Arts, Design and Technology major with a focus in Graphic Design. This is her second year here at Chico State as a transfer student and is expected to graduate in Spring 2018. When she’s not working at Tea Bar, she enjoys hiking around Upper Bidwell and painting. Her interest is in package design and uses Adobe Illustrator most often.
Orianna Valenzuela is a Communication Design Major from San Diego, California. She works as a freelance designer for web, print, and user interface. When she isn’t designing she enjoys reading, teaching herself to code, and hanging out with her pets.
Carly is a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Graphic Design. She is currently working as an intern for MADTech. This is Carly’s second year at Chico as a transfer student and is projected to graduate Spring 2017. Outside of school she enjoys getting crafty and outdoor activities. She has a special interest in packaging design and loves to work with Adobe Illustrator.
Bryndan transferred from CSU Northridge last year and is now a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Media Arts. He likes photography, writing, and the visual arts in general. As a MADTech intern, he explores his strengths and weaknesses in the area and is gaining experience working with a team of creative people.
Sydney is a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Graphic Design. Sydney is a transfer student from SBCC, and has been at CSU Chico 3 semesters. She is working as an intern for MADTech and also works part-time at Lulus.com. Sydney focuses her design on the use of Adobe Illustrator. Her hobbies include cooking, food photography, and spending time outdoors. She hopes to graduate from CSU Chico by Fall 2017.
Yuen Lai is from Auckland, New Zealand. She is a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Graphic Design and she is also pursuing a minor in Marketing. Her hobbies/interests include being an adventurous, thrill-seeking traveler! She is creative, ambitious, diligent, hardworking, responsible and dedicated to her passion for design, whether print or user experience/interface design.
Marisa is a major in Media Arts, Design, and Technology with a focus in Mass Communication, and a minor in Instructional Design. She plans to work for an advertising firm similar to the one featured in Mad Men, or be involved with marketing or social media for a fashion company. When not busy with school, at the gym, or work, you’ll find her either watching re-runs of The Office on Netflix, exploring San Francisco or Chico, or spending time with family and friends.
Joseph Hamilton – Videographer/Scriptwriter
Joseph graduated from California State University, Chico in 2015 where he studied Media Arts and Theater Arts. Joseph also studied Media in Theater at the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas. He was awarded the Don Childs SILV Award for his video and projection designs. He is currently working for MADTech as a freelance Videographer and scriptwriter. His focuses are video editing, sound design, lighting design, graphic design, and post-production techniques.
Holly Wright – Graphic Designer
Holly is a Graphic Design and Interior Architecture major with a minor in Photography. Areas of interest include packaging design, product design, furniture design, film set design, and human interaction design.
Jessey Clarke – Graphic Designer
Jessey is a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Graphic Design. She is currently working as an intern for MADTech and freelances in photography, poster, and logo design. Her strengths include knowledge of print, publication, and photography. Currently she is expanding her interest in web design, rich internet applications and screencasting. She is projected to graduate CSU, Chico in 2014.
Tayma Ueltzen – Graphic Designer
Tayma is a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Graphic Design. She is working as an intern for MADTech as well as freelancing in photography and poster design. She also works in maintaining her water polo team’s website and designing their apparel. She is projected to graduate from Chico in 2014.
Ben Hintz – Graphic Designer
Ben is a Media Arts, Design, and Technology major with an option in Graphic Design and a minor in Photographic Studies. He is currently working as an intern for MADTech and freelances in logo design and as a photographer. Ben’s strengths include his knowledge of print, publication, and photography. He is projected to graduate CSU, Chico in 2014.
Stacey is a major in Media Arts, Design, and Technology: Graphic Design Option and a minor in Asian Studies. She is currently working as an intern for MADTech and works in the Humanity and Fine Arts publicity office. She graduated from Butte College with two degrees in Social Science and Multimedia Studies. When not in school, Stacey enjoys photography, working with different types of art medium, and designing and sewing clothes. Mvlasuro is her fashion and photography brand.
Haley has worked with graphic design related projects for over 6 years, mainly centered around print and publication. Recently she has expanded her interests to web design and other aspects of communication design. Haley also works as a publicity assistant for CSU, Chico School of the Arts and is expected to graduate in 2013.
Jessica is majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Marketing. For the past three years she has worked on campus as a Graphic Designer for housing’s programing board Prime Time Productions. She also manages her sorority’s website and this year is the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) West Graphic Design Competition Coordinator in Portland, Oregon.
